Thanks Giordano!
Those all sound great. Especially a series that hooks me.

what are the top 5 books you would either recommend and/or have had the greatest influence on you?
(if you only want to mention one or two that's fine as well.).
if you feel like it, please briefly tell us why.

Just got done reading reviews & descriptions of THE GARGOYLE, EVERY MAN DIES ALONE & DEVIL'S ADVOCATE.
They all sound like very good & disturbing reads.
Thanks,

i'm trying to figure out a way to deal with these feelings of cowardice, worthlessness, unmanliness, etc.. i'm not afraid of anyone or even what would happen to me (nothing), but i do not want to witness the utter destruction of my family.
so i shut up and go along.
i am often reminded of the scene in ben hur when charleton heston's bravery is threatened with the loss of his family.
Apologies to Finally Free. DOH!
I meant ithinkisee.
Had a senior moment and I'm not even a senior.
Here's a link to one of his threads.

If you review his "Topics Started" you can get a good feel for how things went with his wife.

Do what's best for your kids, your wife and yourself.
Kids come first in my book.
Plenty of smart, courageous people have walked in your shoes.
Hillary Step: waited approx 10 years for his wife to awaken.
Amazing: Got his kids out through "educational" family studies and remaining as an elder for a time.
Finally Free: Did the slow drip method on his wife and eventually she came around.
That's just a few.
I'll send you a PM.

a little background before my recap of my conversation.
my father left my mom and i when i was young, like before i was 5. so i didn't know him other than a couple images i had of him in my head.
i don't have any bad feelings towards him, even though he cheated on my mom and took 20 years to pay back child-support.
LOL @ mouthy:
"mindcuffs"
I like it.
Great OP as well.

i was thinking of taking about three weeks to a month off to travel in asia.
been all over europe because i lived there for 10 years, i haven't been to asia.
stay in moderately priced accomodations and kind of do my own thing as far as sightseeing.
This guy's blog on The Art of Non-Conformity might have some unconventional travel ideas that will be helpful.
Enjoy your travels!

(factuality note: in this thread i will talk about my "aunt".
in actuality this relative was either my aunt, uncle or cousin.).
my aunt died several years ago.
"Although I was only six years of age,"
Wow Black Sheep!
Thanks for adding that perspective from a 1992 Watchtower.
While they didn't come out and directly encourage 6-year-olds getting baptized, it is certainly tacit approval IMO.

someone started a thread asking everyone's favorite xmas movies.. how about favorite xmas music/songs?
even when i was an active jw i had a soft spot for certain xmas music.
the standards, the jazzy ones, the rocknroll ones.. while i like a lot of different ones...i even collected my favs onto a playlist that i keep for this time of year...there are a few that really stand out as my favs.
